Shop Cordova First
The Cordova Chamber’s “Shop Cordova First” campaign began in 2015, utilizing nautically themed custom artwork and fun slogans to encourage residents and visitors to “anchor” their business in Cordova. One of the campaign’s signature materials, the Shop Cordova First reusable shopping bag was especially popular, and reminded local shoppers of the significance of supporting Cordova businesses. The campaign has expanded to include the Shop Cordova First Passport, Cordova Coupon Book, and Cordova Shopping & Dining Guide.
The branding recognizes that there are times when residents must shop outside of Cordova, but encourages them to give local merchants a shot at their business first because they are often willing to go the extra mile to serve customers. The program also emphasizes that ‘money spent here, stays here’ creating jobs, tax revenue and more. In Cordova, we are fortunate to have the support of local businesses not only providing jobs and services, but also supporting school groups, charitable organizations and other community groups that are the fabric of our lives. Every purchase made locally returns in multiples to the community.

PROGRAMS
SCF Passports
In celebration of Small Business Saturday 2018, the Cordova Chamber created their Shop Cordova First Passports as a means to both incentivize local purchasing and also to begin gathering information about local spending trends. Since then the program has been expanded to track spending associated with local festivals.
Cordova Coupon Book
This little book helps spread the word about our local businesses and offers some great deals for shoppers! It’s also a great perk of Chamber membership! Distributed at our bi-annual Newcomer’s Briefing, CHS sports tournaments, annual festivals, Cordova Center events and in our Visitor Center, the Cordova Coupon Book has proven to be a valuable tool to help visitors Shop Cordova First.
Cordova Shopping & Dining Guide
First developed to serve as a tool for visiting sports teams during Cordova High School sports tournaments, this handy guide has evolved into the most popular handout in our Visitor Center. The trifold brochure not only provides the name, open hours and details of all Chamber-member shopping and dining establishments; it also pinpoints their location on the enclosed map. Pick one up from our Visitor Center today or contact us to send one to you via email!
Moonlight Madness
The merchants of Cordova get a bit of “Moonlight Madness” every winter and keep late hours on the Friday nights before Christmas to give Cordovans extra opportunity to find that perfect gift. A list of participating businesses along with their holiday-themed sales, activities and treats is distributed and promoted by the Chamber. For this year’s list, click here.
